The Sunday after the tornado came through, we sang this song in church. I've always loved this song, but I will never hear it the same way. I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to sing the chorus again with a lump in my throat, and that's something I don't want to go away. Terribly bad things happen. God is good. Not just some of the time. He is good all of the time.
You're the God of this City
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You are
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You are
You're the Light in this darkness
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
The leadership at our church has read the following verses over us several times after that devastating storm:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. -James 1:2-4
