Live to Dance

Has anyone else out there been watching this show? I did not plan to watch it. I mean, I didn't set my DVR or anything...for the first episode, but I got drawn in. If you're not familiar with the show, it is Paula Abdul's new gig. They held auditions on the west and east coasts and have come up with 17 of 18 acts that will compete. I am completely enthralled with this show so far. I already have way too many shows that I keep up with, which expanded this week with the premieres of The Bachelor and Live to Dance. Why, you ask, am I so into this show? There are several reasons:

1. REALITY--I love reality shows. I love getting to know the real people that are involved in the show. I feel like I know them by the end of the show and often pick my favorites based on their story.

2. COMPETITION--I love shows in which winning is the end goal. I'm competitive myself and love watching and cheering for others as they compete.

3. JOY--I am an eternal optimist and love a good "rags to riches" story. Television shows that tell a person's story and how they have risen from a less than glorious background to accomplish something completely draws me in. This show also has no age limit; I love watching the joy on the children's faces as they realize how well they've done and how they positively they have been received by others.

4. PAULA ABDUL--Make fun all you want, but I love Paula. I'm a HUGE American Idol fan and was sad to see her go. I loved Kara, but I also love Paula. I know a lot of times the things she has to say do not always make the most sense and that she is not the most eloquent of speakers. However, I think she wants to best for those around her and has a pure heart. I love that this show is building on her strengths and championing her for what is god about her. She's able to show the contestants how much she cares for them, while adding helping criticism and insight.
