Piercings...and lack of tattoos

Day 2. Talk about your piercings and tattoos, if you have any

When I was three years old, I started begging my mom to get my ears pierced (or so I'm told). My mom told me if I could stop sucking my ring and middle fingers, then I could. I must have had a lot of determination as a young child because I got my ears pierced at age 3, so I must have stopped sucking my fingers. I know my mom and she does not waver on her word, so I can only assume this is true. My ears were pierced close to my 4th birthday, making the set of several pairs of earrings from one of the Carpenters the perfect gift.

Although I got my ears pierced at a young age, I had to get them re-pierced when I was 12 years old. The first summer of cheerleading practice led to earrings rarely being worn because that wasn't allowed. During the summer, when I was dressing up and did need earrings, I somehow made them go through until one day, there was no hole again. The next spring, around cheerleading try-outs again, I got my ears pierced. I put my foot down this time when asked to take them out to stunt at practice, asking a friend to hold them just while I stunted.

If you know me, and I assume you do if you are reading my blog, you know my personality does not really lend itself towards a tattoo-kinda girl. It's just not my thing. I think they're awesome, but I personally do not know what I would want on my body for the rest of my life. I have, however, successfully talked my best friend into getting a tattoo. I held her hand and told her now husband at the time to have fun when she's giving birth. Apparently the foot is one of the most tender places.
