I had a really cute blog idea to announce when Jordan found out about Beeson. He was a little excited and let the cat out of the bag on Twitter before I could tell him idea. So folks, it's official. We're moving so Jordan can go to Beeson Divinity School on Samford's campus. We have jobs for the summer and an apartment, so all I need is a teaching job!

Jordan and I visited a few seminaries this summer and fall. When Jordan started looking into seminaries, he started tossing out the idea of North Carolina, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Our families are in Mississippi and Georgia, so I was a little nervous knowing there was the potential to be far away from my family, farther than what can be traveled to in a day. I have always known my family is close enough to go visit whenever I wanted to. Knowing that might not be an option scared me to death.
Basically, out of my selfishness and fear of moving really far way, I threw out the idea of Beeson to Jordan. Beeson is a non-denominational school on Samford's campus. Our college minister went there, and Jordan and I each know a couple others who have as well. We didn't know much about Beeson. I knew a good deal about Samford because it was my runner up school for undergrad and both of my parents' alma mater. I knew I loved Birmingham and have always had a love for the school.
Beeson was the first seminary that we visited, and we both left the visit completely in love. Because of its non-denominational nature, Jordan and I knew that his beliefs would be challenged and strengthened because he'd be interacting with people who do not necessarily have the same views on issues as he does. We always loved the small size of the seminary, capping out at 300 total, which means Jordan will have a lot more interaction with his professors. It also has a mentoring program as well as a required internship. It was a fit.
We visited last summer, and Jordan has known since last July that Beeson is where he wants to go. He interviewed in February and just found out today he had been accepted. Talking about a long waiting period. I'm super proud of him and so excited to go through this with them. I know it'll be tough living off of only me having a job, but I'm really excited about it.

I'm so excited about moving to Birmingham (scared, yes, but still excited). I'm the only person in my family who hasn't lived there. My parents went to Samford. The building that houses Beeson was once one of my parents dorms. My parents fell in love on this campus. My sister lived here after graduating college. It's a new experience completely, but I'm ready!
