Book Review

Jordan's mom and youngest sister had told me about The Hunger Games as well as the other two books in its trilogy by Suzanne Collins (Catching Fire and The Mockingjy) around Christmas. A couple of friends had also encouraged me to pick up the series. After an unsuccessful attempt to check out Water for Elephants at the library, I finally gave in to see what the buzz was all about, and I am so glad that I did. I read the first book within 3 days and the whole series in 3 weeks, to the day. I could not put the first two down. The 3rd took a little more time to get through.

On to a brief synopsis (I don't want to give it away because YOU need to read these)! The story centers around Katniss Everdeen in a futuristic society in Panem, which is ruled by "The Captiol." Panem is divided into 12 districts (once 13 until one was destroyed by The Capitol). Each year, to demonstrate is dominance and sovereignty, The Capitol puts on the Hunger Games, in which two teens, one boy and one girl, from each district is randomly chosen to fight to his or her death.

If you are looking for a good read, I highly suggest this one. This series has a little bit of everything, so it can appeal to all readers. You will not be disappointed.

Oh how I love me some Suzanne Collins! I read all of them and wished there were more! I like it when pop culture incorporates ancient Greek mythology and adapts it.
Happy Comment Love Sunday!

This sounds like an interesting book! I've been such a slack reader lately, so I really should pick it up again :) Perhaps I should start with this one! :)

Hey Carlin! Thanks for following by my blog!! I just finished Hunger Games as well! I saw so many people reading it, I just had to pick it up as well! I loved loved it. I read it in 2 days too. I have the second one but haven't mustered up the time to start it. I know I will be rendered worthless for those two days. I've also heard that the third one wasn't the best. The librarian at my school things that Scholastic was pushing her to get the third one out and she didn't have the time to put in the same amount of time...he said Scholastic is known for doing stuff like that. Hm...who knows? I'll let you know my thoughts when I get through them!

These books have been on my "to read" lost for awhile now, and this gives me even more reason to go read them. Thanks! =)
