A Good Problem to Have

I mentioned earlier that I have a job and was looking for a second job. I was blessed with a second job at Sylvan Learning Center in Tuscaloosa. Some of you may think I am crazy for having two jobs and starting graduate school on Tuesday, and I would have to agree with you. The thought behind having a second job is that my job at the church seems to only be for the summer, and since places were hiring, I should go ahead and interview with those places.

I need a job for the fall (okay, my parents never asked me to get a job, but I would just like to be able to start saving money for the future), so I thought I should take one if the opportunity presented itself. I interviewed with Kinnucan's but didn't get the job. I interviewed with Sylvan and was basically offered a job on the spot. This job will actually utilize my major and will allow me to do something I love--working in a small group with children that need extra support in a certain subject.

Last week was full of training at Sylvan, which consisted of reading things on a computer screen and then taking tests. Once my training was completed, my boss was able to put me on a teaching schedule. I received my schedule for this coming week on Friday, and found out I would be working almost 19 hours there, which immediately started to stress me out. I had asked for 10-12 because I have another job and start 2 classes this week.

My attitude has changed. Although I am still incredibly overwhelmed by the week that lies ahead of me, I have realized that being busy is a blessing, especially when what is keeping me so busy is me having two jobs. So, I have chosen to look at this as a blessing. Well, at least at the moment I am. I know that I'll be stressed at times and continue to ask myself, "Why was this a good idea?" However, I know that this is a blessing to be able to go to school and have two jobs. Please pray that this attitude will remain.
